A new systemic review published in Chiropractic and Manual Therapies provides more support for choosing a chiropractor first for treatment of musculoskeletal pain. The review finds that patients with spine-related MSK pain who consulted a DC as their initial provider incurred “substantially decreased downstream healthcare services and associated costs, resulting in lower overall healthcare costs compared with medical management.” The study, supported in part by Clinical Compass and the NCMIC Foundation, looked mainly at retrospective cohorts of large databases.
