Earl Barbour NCCA Convention Scholarship Award

Dr. Earl Barbour was a past president of the NCCA who loved nothing more than his chiropractic family and conventions. He had attended 96 NCCA conventions before his death in 2017. After his passing, the NCCA set up this scholarship fund to continue Dr. Barbour’s love of fellowship and chiropractic.
Eligibility – This award is available to an NCCA member in good standing who has been in practice 5 years or less.

Doctor of the Year

NCCA presents this award as the highest honor bestowed upon an NCCA member. While recognizing outstanding professionalism and exemplary service to the NCCA and the chiropractic profession, this award also recognizes a member’s contribution to the public and service to their community
Eligibility – This award is available to an NCCA member in good standing. Suggested guidelines include receiving previous honors and awards for chiropractic work, being active in civic and community endeavors, or being recognized by peers as a professional leader.

Chiropractic Honor Roll

Nominations accepted from the membership for someone outside that is not a DC, or even the profession, that has helped promote chiropractic and/or made significant contributions to chiropractic in North Carolina during the past year.
Eligibility – This award is available to a non-chiropractor.

Eligibility – Discretion of the current NCCA President

Longleaf Pine Award

The Long Leaf Pine is the state tree and signifies strength and reliability in our great state. It is more than fitting that the award given by the NCCA to the person who has dedicated many years of their time and effort to the advancement of the profession and service through the NCCA board of directors, be given an award under this name.
Eligibility – Awarded to the NCCA Advisory Officer during the last year of their two year term.

Additional Eligibility

• Nomination and Awards committee members are ineligible for scholarships and awards (other than President’s Award and Longleaf Pine Award).
• Applicants may receive a maximum of one award in the year under consideration.

Process

• Nominations are accepted by the membership for a minimum of three weeks. These nominations are sent to the Nominating and Awards Committee for selection.
• The Nominating and Awards Committee according to the NCCA bylaws shall consist of (a) the Advisory Officer and (b) two Directors appointed by the then-serving President, provided that said Directors cannot be up for re-election.
• Annual Awards are presented at the NCCA Fall Convention or similar event.
